How rounds work

Open, lock, resolve, and claim: the lifecycle of a Sight prediction round.

A market is a memecoin listed in Sight. A round is one on-chain UP/DOWN contest for that market.

Round duration is 5 minutes, 15 minutes, or 1 hour, depending on the token’s volume and activity. More active tokens usually get shorter rounds; quieter tokens may run longer windows.

The question

Each round asks, in substance: will this token go up vs WETH over the round?

Sight compares Uniswap Token/WETH price at the start of the round (price to beat) with the price at the end. The UI shows that open price and the live / final price.

Lifecycle

Open (betting) → Locked (no new bets) → Ended → Resolved → Claim window
Phase What happens
Open You can bet UP or DOWN with ETH. Early on, each buy is about $1–$4 to protect user funds.
Locked Usually the last ~30 seconds. New bets are rejected.
Ended Round time is over; waiting for resolve.
Resolved Close price is snapshotted on-chain; winners / refund mode set.
Claim window 14 days to claim; then remaining ETH may be swept.

UP, DOWN, and ties

  • UP wins when the memecoin appreciated vs WETH per the contract’s Uniswap rules.
  • DOWN wins when it depreciated.
  • Tie (or one-sided pot — no opposing bets) → refund mode: eligible stakes are claimed back with no protocol fee (see Fees & refunds). Win/lose only applies when both UP and DOWN have stake.

Exact tick/price logic lives in the PredictionRound / UniswapPrice contracts (Uniswap V2 / V3 / V4 support as configured per market).

Position size

During the early stages of Sight, each buy is limited to roughly $1-$4. That cap exists to protect user funds while markets and tooling mature. The trade UI shows amounts in dollars; settlement still happens in ETH onchain.

Parimutuel pots

Bets on UP and DOWN form two pots. After a decisive outcome, winners split the pot pro-rata by stake, after the protocol fee. Your payout depends on how much you bet relative to other winners, not on fixed odds.

Estimated payouts in the UI are informational. The amount you receive is whatever the contract pays when you claim.

What to watch on a market page

  • Countdown / ends-in
  • Price to beat vs current (or final) price
  • Whether the round is still open for betting
  • Your open or claimable positions (profile)
